At Flo In Yoga, we wanted to go back to the basics... with a twist
We love the practice of yoga, it is our passion, but we also understand that sometimes in life, you need a sense of humor and so have injected some good fun vibes in our wildcard yoga class.
This is yoga for real people !
We believe yoga is about openness and connectedness
So we created an intimate community space, a gathering point to bring people together - to help us find a better place within ourselves, within the world around us and in helping us take action to achieve our truer sense of purpose and confidence. You come here to be amongst friends and free yourself of the competition you may have with the world or yourself... sometimes it’s not about how hard you can push yourself, sometimes it’s about how soft you can push yourself.
We believe in always doing the right thing
We all know our body, mind and spirit are completely interconnected. When our bodies feel good, we feel good, and when we feel great, our outlook on life is positive. The health benefits of Yoga are many. Our goal is to help as many of our guests find and deepen their connections so they may live better lives.

For Flo, it’s all about balance. No extremes. She believes in yoga “for the rest of us,” where everyone is welcome. She built Flo In Yoga to be a treat of a retreat, an open space of tranquility and peace away from the hustle and pressures of the day.
Her childhood was filled with athletics from gymnastics, horse riding, skiing, to running track. Her yoga practice started in France 15 years ago. Like most of us, she moved in and out of yoga over the years but always found that her quality of life improved dramatically when she returned to her practice. Over the last few years, yoga gained momentum for her. So much so, that after a 12 year career as a Business Analyst in the banking industry, she hung up the corporate power suits, shelved the statistics software and refocused her energy on perfecting her inner warrior poses... Through yoga her aim is to impart kindness and joy both to herself and those around her.
After living in France, Hong Kong, and the US, she has also found balance in an East meets West approach to life which she incorporates in her classes. While the practice is focused and aimed to elevate body, mind and spirit, the atmosphere is fresh and the music fun... go deep and stay light !
Gemma Shaw is born and raised in UK, and trained at her local dance school where her mother also learned to dance and then worked at.
Gemma's first job was as a dance instructor in a gym when she was 16. She then started her professional dance career at age 17 as dancer/choreographer for a touring show in UK, then at age 18 moved on to her dream job as a dancer at sea on beautiful cruise ships.
When Gemma became a mother in 2008 in addition to opening her own dance academy in UK she also trained as a fitness professional and has been passionate about her work in fitness ever since.
In 2014 Gemma and her family moved to Dubai where her family has grown along with her work in dance and fitness.
Mirta’s passion for fitness and living a healthy life is what brought her closer to the world of Yoga. She always thought yoga would be easy, until she tried it herself. Not only is it challenging, it can really build up a sweat, and requires a lot of focus, which in fact is what makes it so great!
To Mirta Yoga is all about mind over body, and finding inner peace and harmony in such a cluttered and chaotic world. One key element Mirta likes to stress is that Yoga is truly for everyone, not only the flexible ones, au contraire. It’s a journey for anyone with a will to grow and bond the physical with the spiritual self. It is a journey that releases you from comparing yourself with others, and embracing your own uniqueness and beauty. In the words of Theodore Roosevelt “Comparison is the thief of joy.”
In 2015 Mirta completed her 200 RYT with Guru Ravindra Tomar of Ravvi’s School of Yoga based in Dubai. Apart from Yoga, Mirta is a passionate foodie and picture taker. She also earned her Masters degree in Business Psychology and is now on the way to earn her Personal Trainer Diploma.
Her favorite place is next to her husband and like-minded people who know how to live simply and are genuine at heart.
Tamar fell into yoga in 2008, being prescribed by a doctor to practice it with meditation to cure her severe migraines. When Yoga healed and changed her whole life, physically, mentally and emotionally; making her stronger, more flexible and peaceful, she decided to change her job from a Secondary school teacher to a Yoga teacher.
Besides her 200-hour RYT, Tamar joined many workshops, deepening her knowledge and practice in YOGA; handstand, headstand, backbends, chakras, meditation, breathing, mudras, grounding, chair, yin, dharma wheel and barre yoga.
She keeps learning and stays a student, even after being a teacher.
Her classes mostly emphasize the breath, using it as a link between the mind and the body, thus bringing conscious awareness of one self, so that one can be de-stressed, calm, aware and peaceful both on and off the mat.
She loves challenges and believes that YOGA is for everyBODY, and nothing is impossible to achieve. She inspires her students through her own life example.
Life is energy and both keep changing and moving.
As a Pilates instructor I am teaching movement with precision, concentration, breathing, flowing, centring, and control – thereby moving and changing your body, your energy and maybe your life, while definitely teaching you the joy of movement.
